  1.                      CHARACTER ORIENTED COMMANDS

  3. <INSERT>  toggles  character  insert mode on and off. The default mode
  4. (unless changed in the WPdefaul file)  is  overstrike  mode.  Pressing
  5. <INSERT> will change to mode to insert mode. Any characters typed will
  6. push the characters beyond it rightwards.
  7.  
  8. <DEL>  deletes the character under the cursor. If the cursor is at the
  9. end of a line, the the next line will be joined to the current line. 
  10.  
  11. <BACKSPACE>  deletes  the  character to the left of the cursor. If the
  12. cursor is at the left  margin,  the  line  will  be  joined  with  the
  13. previous line.
  14.  
  15. <DEL WORD> (the SHIFT DEL key) deletes the word under the cursor.
  16.  
  17. <QUOTE> (the ALT Q key) allows you to insert control  characters  into
  18. your  document.  After  typing  the <QUOTE> key, the following key you
  19. type will have its ASCII value inserted into the text.
